You have to bear in mind when launching any consumer product, that half the population is below average in every respect. In other words it has to be foolproof.

I've also found that most people are too busy or lazy to learn new things, then get frustrated when tinkering using their existing experience causes systems to fail. I recognise this especially because I do the same. The familiar is always easier to deal with. To make a significant inrode into the OS market, Linux needs to get into the schools.
