The teething problems are still there. For instance, in Ubuntu 8.10 and 9.04 (release Oct. 2008 and April 2009, respectively), there's still no way for the average user to change the sound theme for the Gnome desktop. Change one sound from the "default" theme to "custom" and the entire default theme is blown away; after you add in custom file paths to replace those removed by the customization, there's no way to save it as named custom theme. Come on, Microsoft had this issue licked in Windows 95,over 15 years ago! It's no wonder that people aren't flocking to Linux: It's not user-friendly.
