My ONLY thought -- and I haven't read anything more than the original article and the subject headings on the thread -- is this: If Microsoft makes a decision to launch software for a cheap laptop in a nearly-third-world (or at least it was when I was there in the eighties) country, and then loses $150 Million on the deal, the only real consequence is that Microsoft isn't quite as profitable this year as it was last year.

Microsoft is THE largest computer related company in the world. They didn't get that way by making bad business decisions.
