RE: Microsoft launches software for cheap Portuguese laptop
Hi,

First, the event is a disgrace and shameful for an entire country.
It reveals how my PM gov is a complete bunch of ignorants.
Nothing folks in this part of the world do not know for a long time -> complete governance incompetence .. but none the less if one lives long enough we can always see the unexpectedly stupid.
Well, apart from that to be more precise:

First:
Most schools grant the 50euros laptop, (the Classmate) WITH LINUX!
Let this be clear.
The 50euros price is only for children with families below a certain income level. And that is not the 500.000 far from it.
(There is another price for children in a intermediary income range I do not know exactly what it is).
The "Street price" for the Windows version is 285 euros.
All school prices bellow that are State Subsidized.
In Portugal also there is this Stupid thing the PM is apparently and strangely unaware ... Any family with kids in school age can deduce 250euros in taxes per year in IT spending (PC's, laptops, printers ...whatever).
So .... and this is the most Stupid in all the program: Why on earth is anyone going to pay 285 for a very bad laptop when one can buy a Asus 901 for 399euro, deduce 250euros taxes from it which gives a final price of 149 euros for a Far Better netbook ???
It is complete BS.

Second:
Linux computers are not a small percentage.
They are simply not accounted for in the statistics. One can not count the installs After laptops are sold ...
Netbooks specially are an area where Linux may even outsell Windows.

Third:
So called "Latin America" countries where the laptop is supposedly sold is to our dear "friend" Hugo Chavez ...

Figure that out !!!!

Regards,
Pedro
