RE: Businesses focus on Windows 7, XP over Vista
Another Windows ME. Not because the OS is "bad" or buggy...simply because Microsoft seeing soft adoption, chose to issue another OS (Windows 7).

Perception hurts Vista far more than actual usage. I agree with you that Vista holds very little value over XP. I do not expect that Windows 7 will either.

However, perception that Windows 7 (if Microsoft pulls it off) is better than XP/Vista will be the deciding factor for adoption/sales.

The second most harmful reason Vista has such a bad rap; "forcing" it on the public. Not that Microsoft did anything wrong here; sunsetting XP makes sense (providing a better NEW version is available). The general population seems to think that Vista is inferior, has no value over XP, is buggy, will not work with their hardware, or some/all of the above.

Now some see that sunsetting the XP OS, as Microsoft FORCING them into Vista (which for any of the reasons mentioned above they "do not want".

This is not helping Vista's image, adoption, or sales. The next nail in the coffin? The release of a NEW Windows 7? Just as Windows Me suffered an early death (I was happy to see it go) releasing Windows 7 within 1.5 to 2 years from Vista....

Everyone knows that Vista took nearly a century to complete...and 7 is going to be better? I suspect Windows 7 will be more of what Vista was supposed to be. I still remember ALL of the features Vista was SUPPOSED to have....and didn't. I suspect SO MANY others do as well..... is it really any surprise that Vista has become the NEW COKE?
