Just in case though, I'd point out that when LaMaitre, a Roman Catholic priest/mathematician, proposed the hypothesis of the "primeval atom" that was the, um, genesis of the Big Bang theory, Pope John the Somethingth hailed it as supporting the creation story, which LaMaitre tried to downplay.

I know it's probably a spurious correlation, but it's interesting to look at the theoretical post-Big Bang timeline, and Genesis 1:1. Darkness for 300,000 years after the Big Bang, and then... light.
