For once I agree with Bit ...
This is not competitive with DirecTV/Tivo scenario, which places NO SCREWY copy protection burdens on the customer. Whether watching it live or off of disk, my Tivo/DBS receiver signal goes right to my JVC DVD recorder with no problems. I have expanded my movie collection by over 300 DVDs in just three months, with good serviceable results. Yeah, there are no "extras" associated with these DVDs, but the price averages out at about a dollar a pop using 39-cent DVD-R blanks from Fry's, and I haven't had a coaster or playback problem yet. Sheesh, I couldn't RENT a DVD for that, much less have a permanent copy.

You may have to wait a few extra months for a movie to come out on Starz or HBO, but rest assured that it will arrive ...
