Developers Turning Fast to Open Standards! grin
Game Developers are just the first to kick the Closed
Proprietary Habit! Others are fast on their heels and
as Donny states, Silverlight is not long for this
World, precisely because of this fact!

Silverlight is just Proprietary's last gasp effort as
they go down their own closed source hole in their
arse! The Victor: Open Standards Based Development> KDE> Webkit> Application Software... KILLs Closed
Source Proprietary's Software! "The Future is now OPEN
for Development"!!!

This will be the Headline we end up reading in the not
too distant future. It all started to fall apart for
the proprietary business software segment when Linux,
FSF, GNU were born. Yes it's been slow and software
has driven and controlled the market ever since, over
hardware manufacturers (including Big Brother M$'s
Closed Source OS holding the reigns over us and
manufacturers).

But with the formation of Khronos Group, an much more
powerful alliance has been formed. That will
eventually control the web with it's own Open
Standards Family of API's!

People forget about the Standards Based Open Source
World the Manufacturers are working to build, that all
this software must run on (OS or Application). The
newest versions of all OpenGL family of API's are
fully Open Standards Based and able to run on all
hardware or software being developed. Which in the end
spells the Death of one very big Proprietary Software
Giant!

Because without this new Fully Open Standards Based
Application Interface, the newest and future programs
will NOT be able to talk and crosstalk with future
hardware. Whether it's on a Mac's OS-X, PC with Linux
or PC with Windows 7?, Nvidia, Intel, AMD/ATI, Nokia
or Motorolla/Freescale, etc! The Future is now very
OPEN for us all!!!

Also the World (whether we want to believe or not) is
going MOBILE!!! Google in co-operation with most
hardware manufacturers, jumped at the chance to
develop the first truly Open Standards Based Mobile OS
that will fully utilize this newest version of OpenGL
ES 2.0, OpenVG, OpenMax, OpenSL, etc, etc...et all
(from Khronos Group family of API's)!

Creating a Win/Win situation for us the Consumers. Now
the competition will be centered on substance. Instead
of who has the tightest most proprietary closed
application software development. That Locks us into a
BRAND. For once you better be offering services that
actually work and WORK no mater what hardware or
software they are on!!! wink

This is why Sun smartly Opened up JavaFX. Javascript
V8(freaky or not) with it's newest speed hike is
destined for the Future! ...a Future that is sure to
be OPEN!!! grin ....Nite Nite Silverlight!

BTW; Want to get a taste of the difference the Future
offers? Run Google Earth on DirectX, then on OpenGL or
Vista's own Aeroglass Desktop. First on DirectX, then
on OpenGL 3.0 hardware (that is also now backwards
compatible with older hardware)!
