But .Net runs on Mobiles, and Silverlight should as well.
And WinMobile is still quite popular in the real world, regardless of what you might hear around this place.

Also, if you are writing desktop and mobile apps (software and service), do you want 2 development languages? Are you going to program desktop apps in JavaScript?
