Re Fanboy Corporate Type
Then why are you not working at ZDnet LD? I have followed some of your posts for a while and as much as we might hate to admit, Windows is not a be all and end all. Nor is Linux.
I have windows installed on most of my computers in my home and I usually have to go directly to the registry to adjust thing (startup, context menu, permissions, so forth) there to get it to the way it should run as well as adjust settings in control panel >> system >> advanced settings to get the system to operate properly for the system it is on. But even beforehand I have to run Norton win doctor to fix the thousands of errors that are found on the system before i tweak anything. There are times that I also wish that I could do more to adjust the system than I already do. To even modify windows executives such as explorer.exe, I have to use Res Hack to open the executive to make changes in appearance. Although One may also have to do this in Linux as well, it seems that it is easier on a Linux system because all the tools are there already. I have also dipped into the Linux operating systems as well. Yes i have to do similar things with a couple of the linux distros that i have on a couple of my computers. Nothing out of the ordinary. both OS's have shortcomings and things that make them shine. With Linux, it s flexability. With Windows it is and abundant ease of use.

As for downloading programs in Linux, package managers such as Yum are developing as well, and may even come to the point of being able to download all neccessary packages from the get go (and most of them do now as well). But the point that i am makng is that you stated that you have to go to the website and install all the packages necessary for linux to work. A good point, but don't we do that with windows as well for drivers?
