Well he got one thing right in all this, there is not shortage of stupid.
What a retard! Service Bureaus and ASP bore no resemblance to current multi-tenant SaaS products. The first was pre-Internet. Is that going away in two years two? ASP was nothing more than crappy software run remotely and was as you say stupid. SaaS is a completely different animal and bring big paradigm shifts to the equation through real-time collaboration and communication capabilities. Taking his customers will be child's play. 7-10 year to build a SaaS application? I think I see what your problem is, you are incompetent as a software developer and therefore it doesn't matter who's servers the application is running on. Let me guess you're also developing with Microsoft based tools and running on a MS environment. Of course you are. Wake up and smell the Java before you cheat your shareholders out of 100's of millions.

My company has built 3 SaaS products in the past 3 years. I don't care how complex the business process is we can build new, multi-tenant application with a 5-10 person team in 12-months or less. One of our 3 current products was done in 2 months by one developer. Another was done in 8 months with a five person team. The oldest, which is now 3 years old, took 5 people 12-months. Oh and by the way, we never used a single dollar of outside investment to do build any of this. My break even on every application is 24 months or less and each customer cost me the same day 1 as day 1000.

I love to compete with dinosaurs like this goob. I don't have to beat them, they go extinct all on their own.
