SAAS meaning
SAAS mainly is : software deployment in a hosted server, software maintenance, ongoing operation, and support

In my actual experience with SAAS :

-software deployment, im the software developer and i did the deployment, even when the system didn't have any fancy feature (only oracle, ASP.net and other embedded components).

-Maintenance :i known that my system runs in a system without backup, so i must backup on my own. And i have trouble with this damn server and to fix it can take several weeks (they are off-shoring the support). For example, last week i loss the smtp server and just a single restart the smtp service can fix the trouble but the fix did take 9 days.

-Support :SAAS is just a bad joke, even a seasoned developer can have trouble fixing bug in a big project, even if its well documented, commented and organized. But of course SAAS uses stupid codemonkey, cheap laborer and such (for example to offshoring to indian programmers). I do the level-1 support, the level-2 and level-3 do nothing, even they are unable to create a single account.

-To update the system is damn awful, i must fulfill with several and stupid documents and the process can take several weeks.

For me, Saas is just a annoying bureaucratic layer.
