History DOES repeat itself.
Please don't compare your antiquated product that very few of us IT pros care to EVER learn to cocaine. Unless of course you're going to say that like cocaine your product creates false delusions, is over hyped and will generally kill your career overtime. Then, it'd say I agree with you.

I also agree with your comments that history repeats itself. In a PC Magazine article dated September 1995 John C. Dvorak said, "The Noisiest buzz in the industry lately has been over the emerging use of cable TV systems to provide fast network data transmissions using a device called a cable modem. But the likelihood of this technology succeeding is zilch."

In the end, it's not whether or not you changed your particular business model to SaaS, but rather what the customers want and how they want it.
