- SVG is hardly the equal of Flash or SilverLight

SVG is not well supported- as you stated yourself it is not supported by I.E., which is still the most used browser.
But even if SVG was well supported it wont do video, and its animation is very cumbersome to use compared to Flash or Silverlight.
