And yet, none of them matter at all.
I have yet to see ANY application I felt was "finished". Each of them had quirks, or lacked a needed feature, or in someway simply didn't produce the results I was after.

No, I don't believe any of the reasons you suggest really matter. The fact is technology moves so quickly in IT that the day you begin a project it is already fighting to remain a contender.

Sure, everyone would love to take all the time required, never allow anything untested out, remove every bug, customize the whirly gigs for those that seem to want them, etc.. However the reality is, there are cost constraints and dead lines.

The level of quality in software is a direct result of the actions (or inactions) of the consuming public. "New" beats old and stodgy everytime...
