But you shouldn't simply invest in "updated" software because its newer and better. You should be able to quantify how much this updated software is going to save/gain you compared to an estimated cost to implement/maintain.

For example, why replace an ASN 400 system that meets your needs with a Microsoft Server system that is more complicated?
