How about blaming ...
... the person responsible. The 18 year old that committed the act. Even in the best of households some kids just grow up bad. Call it peer pressure or bad genes it happens. As for parenting skills I have successfully raised two and now have grand children.

It seems that you have missed the basic technique of child rearing called holding them responsible for their own actions. That is how they learn there are consequences for their actions. Blaming the parents without knowing how they raised their children is a fool's game. Some how I am not suprised you fell into that trap.
