HotBot ruled......
I did also used, or should I say "preferred" HotBot all the way, it yielded better results and offered more search options; don't forget that Yahoo! was a directory, like an interactive Yellow Pages but for the whole world, so when you searched for something it actually searched in its own directory... a different approach than hotbot, Altavista (my 3rd favorite one those days) and google.
My 2nd favorite was Metacrawler because MC searched in different search engines (most popular ones at that time) so when something was very hard to find MC would find something most of the time...
