As far as spreadsheets go, wasn't the first one Calc, then we had CalcStar in CPM etc.

Word Processors??? I can remember playing with Magic Windows on an Apple ][+ and then WordStar, Word Perfect and then Word. (With a bunch of 'alsorans' in between ... Framework anyone?)

Look and feel ... we've done that. Didn't work.

The best Starbucks has been able to do here in China is prevent people using a similar logo. Coffee shops still exist using the same coffees and selling the same snacks.

As far as copyrighting the pieces ... You're telling me they copyrighted the alphabet?

Oh, and doesn't the game of Scrabble look like a derivative work of 'The Crossword' and 'Majong'?

You CAN'T copyright a game.

Game SOFTWARE yes ... Check out some Chess Games. But you can't copyright Chess.
