10 hard drive disasters

At what cost?: "pays to have your damaged hard drive or storage device evaluated because the chances of recovery are good."
Pays who? $1000.00 plus to have your hard drive recovered?
I know it's hard to put a price on pictures but a good backup goes a long way toward preventing total disasters.
