Same old solution. Let's try to keep it simple.

Figuring out what is spam after it has reached the server using clever algorithms will continue to advance, but relying only on clever AI is stupid when you can impliment Greylisting. After reading about it extensively, I think the best thing that a mail server admin can do right now is to impliment greylisting along with the more traditional methods of filtering. Properly implimented Greylisting can save mountains of bandwidth, and trillions of CPU cycles for your mailserver.

I'll be implimenting it on my BSD box soon. It currently runs postfix/amavisd-new/spamassasin and does and extremely good job (around 99.9%), and hopefully greylisting can push it's accuracy to four or five 9's.
