OS2 died because of price
It was the same reason why people didn't use Unix. Too expensive for mere mortals. By that I mean you could get Windows 95 for $35 or OS/2 Warp for $360. That's over 10 time the price. I know I liked OS/2 Warp, it great but for that price I couldn't justify it for a home PC.

This way Application support lacked as well. There just wasn't the market for developers to make money off of. If 1 person on OS2 and 10 on Windows who do you sell to? The answer seem quite obvious.

Now had IBM been smart enough to sell their product for reasonable price they might have had something. Problem is IBM was blind to the home consumer market, Microsoft wasn't. In fact IBM was blind to the whole desktop PC market in business too and scrambled to get a product to market which allowed for Microsoft to get its start.
