Well the story is "boring students", when i tell people i am in IT they ask, with a scrunched up face - "do you enjoy it?" - EVERYONE who knows very little about IT (most people) has the preconception that its boring.

I've read many posts saying it is/isnt, if you study IT broadly (like with my computer science degree) you get a feel for different areas. As I have done - choose to work in the area that interests you!

People see IT as black and white, as in there is only 1 broad skill, and all of it is as boring or as interesting as every other area. As with the ICT post above, well i did that at A level, but you know what - its not IT... and even someone studying ICT couldnt distinguish that - what will people who dont know anything think?

People need to be educated about the different areas, it can be a very creative industry if you look at the programming side of things - and if you want to be creative - do programming, dont do networking and complain that IT is boring... complain networking is boring...
