True, and let's get real...
If it hadn't been for advances developed in space research, we would be in even worse shape than outsourcing jobs.

The reason the US economy is so resilient despite bad news, is our advancements and ideas. New ideas in technology pay dividends to our economy through intellectual property rights. Look how cheap and utilitarian the products we buy are, because of the trickle down effect caused by this factor.

Many of these technologies will free us from the chains of oil addiction also! We would not be nearly so advanced in alternate energy if it hadn't been for advances in space technology. We wouldn't have even heard what the heck a hydrogen fuel cell was if this were not true!

One of the products most in demand from the Chinese for American products are environmental controls for energy production. We actually lead the world in this tech despite the fact that some of it may be manufactured in Europe. Much of this science was developed for manned space missions to filter or prevent contamination to the oxygen environment in the space craft.

As one of the other posters said the benefits are too numerous and lengthy to post in just one discussion.

I am disabled and poor, and I live like a king compared to some unfortunate folks in the world, yet we still help others we don't even know. I think the naysayers just whine about economic complaints like these because they are greedy and want everything for them selves; dictatorship of the proletariat has already been proven a dead ideal. Isolationism is long obsolete too! Let's get real here folks!
