Social benefits vs. science
How come there are always socialistic bent peoples who always compares the use of funds that are 'wasted' on areas of scientific exploration and advancement of human knowledge to the social never ending needs of the poor? Your priorities and unwarranted attacks towards misspent funds from any democratic government are similar to the complaints of those who are deemed affronted by a social injustice in regards to economical and social status and where they see the value of billions spent on scientific research as a useless enterprise when people are still going hungry in a wealthy nation. It is the government who must appropriate certain justifiable amounts to alleviate the needs of the poor and also to push society forward in terms of science for the betterment of mankind. In my views and this you can see from historical experience and record that poverty and funds for social programs will ALWAYS need more funds to even barely keep up with the increase of poverty around the world. Financial AID to foreign third world countries and your own wealthy western countries for decreasing poverty is a never ending blackhole for sucking up funds. Keep pouring ALL funds into poverty and I am sure there will be poverty someplace else that needs even more money to fix. Society as a human race would not progress because for lack of proper funding for science and research. It is the balance of the two that is needed to be able to satisfy all needs as possible. In my opinion to help the poor is not give them more money like to them third world countries run by military dictators who'll use it mostly for buying more arms but to educate them in how to earn a living and be self sufficient and welcome them to the 21st century of the information age. IT is like the old adage...give him fish he'll eat for one day...teach him how to fish with a fishing rod and he'll eat for the foreseable future. It's all about educating the peoples!
Now stop attacking the benefits of science research and retarding the progress of human development with unsound accusations that money should be more to the poor and less to human advancement of science for the betterment of all.
P.S Decades of $ AID to Africa from here in CANADA and USA and others has Africa's condition improved much since before 80's? not much and whos fault is it? the dictators of said countries from Africa who cares more bout enriching themselves then their own peoples' quality of life . Their citizens must rise up and search for politic regime change for a government that is democratic that will make laws that affect good for the people and represent the peoples needs.
BTW this is WAY of topic!...YAY for further education on other planet research!
