Please...Give me a break !!!
Java = Lock in on top of a Java Runtime...how is that not Platform independence ??? You still need a J2EE compliant Runtime to use Java...

This whold notion of Platform Independence is BS when it come to Java because Java is no longer just a language as some would think that it is. Java is a Language and a Platform because in order for you to support that language, you need these 'platform' called J2EE. So don't give me Java = Platform Independence crap.

You wanted to talk about true platform independence stuff, let's talk about TCL, Perl, Python, etc. Just not Java.

For those of you who don't think that going with Java is the same as going with a single vendor lock in. Ask yourself this question: in order for any vendor to claim that they are J2EE, what and WHOSE testing application must they BUY from ??? If IBM don't license or buy SUN's testing suite, can IBM advertised that their Java Products are Java Compliant ??? Come on...give me a break...
