Worn out claim...
The worn out claim of write once and run anywhere has NEVER worked. Not once. In fact every time Sun changes Java it breaks old code. One of the biggest complaints I've heard about Java is the constant need to recompile the code every time some thing (hardware, OS, Java itself) changes.
