This may be too public for discussions of this sort. Microsoft might happen upon this idea and begin to use all its resources and popular existing products for the same purpose.

The result might be that the author will be writing about the drip-drip-drip over decades necessary to reduce Microsoft's share of many markets.

The problem here is that MS has tried to compete in other areas with varying degrees of non-success and certainly not dominance.

Let's talk about search, on line ads, music downloads, gaming, success but certainly not dominance in the back office and server space and on and on we go.

Outisde of the OS and Office software areas MS has largely been an also ran or complete non-entity.

Oh yes, they make very good programming tools, too. Then again so do others, say Eclipse.
