to 600 dpi---

But by doing this, aren't you just using interpolation to get a
false increase? It may be "good enough", but it's not really any
better of an image. And remember, we're talking about
phonecam pictures, so you've got a 72 dpi image that's probably
1 or 2 inches in each dimension, so you'd want to increase the
size for a printout any way.
