Has anyone debated their ability to survive?

Disclaimer: I never went to an IIT and I know you won't believe me if I told you I didn't mind not going there (while I may have certainly liked to).

To the point: Nobody's debating the quality of the IIT's. We all know IITians can survive anywhere in the world. That's why IITs get so many grants, exemptions from 50% reservations and all the other facilities nobody else gets. We love IITs, we respect IITs, we admire them. MIT and Stanford may be substandard, no argument there (I never went to MIT or Stanford either.) Nowhere has anyone here questioned the capability, ability, competence or eliteness of the IITians.

What the commenter is talking about is what they _did_do_ not what they _could_do_. It is a _fact_ not _speculation_ that IITians choose not to survive in India, but rather go to the U.S. Nobody is denying that they _could_ have survived. We all know they could have. Many people who never went to the IIT (like me) can claim I _could_ have gotten admission - but that doesn't get me the same respect as someone who _did_ go there.

I'm not trying to be offensive here - just saying give credit where it is due. They did choose to go to the US companies for so many years. So what? How does saying so affect their ability at all? Now they are choosing to stay back and contribute to India. If you think that's a good thing, be happy in it.

What the commenter expressed an opinion upon is that they are staying back here because of outsourcing and because it's ultimataley the same US jobs being transferred to India. If he is mistaken, please correct him - show him that IITians's don't work for Google and Microsoft (or any software-export companies) in India, and he will stand corrected.
