No freedom from search
You don't and never did have a freedom from search. What you have is a freedom from UNWARRANTED search and seizure. Instead of mouthing off about the constitution and what you THINK it says, take the time to actually read the <ocument.

The regulation being discussed here is forcing providers to allow for wiretap capabilities. The cops still have to get a warrant to do the actual wiretap. If they don't get the warrant and wiretap, then whatever they hear gets thrown out of court. And, yes, this is still true even with the Patriot act. All the Patriot Act did was allow a wiretap warrant to be issued on an INDIVIDUAL instead of a DEVICE.
