Actually, I thnk they are just the opposite. I've watched my son playe guitar hero and see how he has learned an lot about rhythm and musicality through it. It's not a lot different than the 'beginning piano' tutorials that have you put stickers on the keys inorder to learn to play. It may inspire some kids to look into playing an instrument that never thought about it before - and that's a good thing. It's at least better than teaching them to use a machine gun or run over people in a sports cars!
