Oh yeah! Out with the MKS system. In with your calibrated left foot.
So perhaps the replacement for the MKS system will be calibrated against the weight--err sorry--mass of your left foot?

How damn stupid.

One of the main problems with the IT industry today is insufficient adherence to software and hardware standards, and or ill-conceived and rushed standards, obsolete before the ink dries; and or the casual or flagrant disregard for standards altogether. Witness example wireless standards: 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g, and 802.11n, ==> bla bla bla, ad infinitum. Seems it's a competition as to how many standards they can make obsolete between one Christmas and the next.

This so-called progress, the handiwork of wild-west carpetbagger software and hardware developers: those producers of short-lived IT junk, who've little regard for the integrity or operational longevity of their manufactured products--is costing you consumers many billions of unnecessary dollars; and if it weren't for the albeit pitiful efforts of the ISO, IEEE etc., then it would be costing you even billions of dollars more.

Now, infiltrators are on track to dominate the ISO's standards development process. It'll be standards in name only. Going is the independent arbitrator and producer of utilitarian standards from which everyone once benefited, soon to be replaced with proprietary "intellectual property" that's inaccessibly locked up within corporate entities, except for an exorbitant price.

Sure, it'll cost more; much more....

Shame the Greenies or Greenpeace haven't cottoned on to this angle yet. Reckon the math will eventually show it'd be better for the planet if, for once, they'd change from hugging whales to hugging the mountainous waste dumps of obsolete IT electronics that's been made with scant regards to standards, the environment or good engineering practice.
