AZ to Hawaii just part of global network
Here is a Wikipedia link to a list of global undersea cable projects...some are coaxial cables, but since the late 70's many are fiber optic cables. For years, AT&T were leaders in laying under sea cables in partnership with other companies. At one time AT&T owned & operated 6 cable ships. In the 90's they sold off their undersea cable laying operations to Tyco.
