Copyright is worse than Patents
The way Disney and others have gotten Congress to
change the copyright laws it would be foolish to switch to
copyright over patent. The last time I checked, a copyright
was good for the life of the author + 75 years. At least
patents have to be reacquired every 17 or so.

Let's go back to making patents very specific and then the
holders have to submit more patents for extra abilities.
The rule used to be a change of 10% would let a new
patent be issued. Now any id10t can patent a ridiculously
broad idea with no worry of a modest or slight
advancement being possible.
