The complaint should have been filed _after_ Sony and bunch of other companies have sold tens of millions of Blu-Ray devices! Then, the money would have been HUGE!
Hmmm... Too bad the complaint was filed so "early"!
The ideal thing to do is to patent something (mybe even something that's obvious - one can always disguise it in clever wording), wait for someone to use it (knowingly or unknowlingly) in their product(s), wait for the "right time" till things mature (give it some time to sink in) and then, file a patent infringement lawsuit!
