Better idea for Gibson
If Gibson manages to kill Guitar Hero, all they'll do is alienate teenagers (and others who love the game) with an interest in rock and music. It doesn't matter if they start selling their own video game, it won't be Guitar Hero and their potential customers will remember.

Instead, they should start selling a line of controllers for Guitar Hero. Make them look and feel like, well, Gibsons. Bring in champions from some of the many Guitar Hero contests to figure out exactly what would make a killer controller, so they work better than the cheaper controllers. Have an ad campaign featuring real rock stars playing the game with Gibson controllers. Then, offer a generous trade-in program for those who want to "upgrade" to a "real" Gibson, thus insuring residual value.

In exchange for dropping the patent suit, form a partnership with Activision to produce a "Gibson Edition Guitar Hero" package that includes the game and a genuine Gibson controller.
