RE: Activision's 'Guitar Hero' violates patent: Gibson
Gibson should back off. Real guitarists will buy their guitars while the people who wish they could play will buy Guitar Hero. Personally, as a guitar player, I view Guitar Hero with mixed feelings. One one hand, I thinks it's fine that people who don't have the knowledge to play a real guitar can act it out with Guitar Hero. Beats air guitar. But I also think it's amusing that instead of spending $199.00 on an acoustic guitar from Gibson and learning how to play, people shell out more than that for the game systems and software to simulate playing a guitar. In summary, Guitar Hero is a game Gibson, and you aren't in the game business but in the guitar manufaturing business. Sounds like simple greed to me and another indicator that corporate America is getting nervous about the economy and searching for any way to squeeze profits for their shareholders and corporate bigwigs. Rock On and learn drop C tuning after you learn how to play in standard E.
