Re-tool - Out of IT
For anyone who can, it's time to find another career.

You really think that if you do what this article asks, that there will be anything besides new "bad news" at the end of *that* rainbow?

How many times have you faced a new career ultimatum in the last 10 years? And what was at the successfull completeion of that ultimatum? A new ultimatum! At this point, however difficult, most people could have moved onto something else by now.

Since 1998, IT people have lived with:

- 1998 h-1b increase
- y2k threat, and unknown consequences
- internet imperative, and bubble burst
- 2000 h-1b increase
- java hype
- India outsourcing, and 1/3 of Congress in India Caucus (so whose side do you think they are on?)
- Rise of the L1 visa

Still think this is fun? Still think this is "kewl"? Most careers do NOT deal with this level of chaos, for this much punishment.

Anyone who thinks that they can just learn how to manage outsourcing and have a good career is nuts. You really think industry won't claim "a desparate shortage of outsourcing capable talent"?

And in this case, who do you think would be "better qualified" to deal with programmers in India anyway? You, or an H-1b or L1 from India?

You might say "re-tool to WHAT"? Not an easy question to answer. But if you look at that list of stuff you've dealt with since 1998, and see that it's only getting worse, for many there is no real choice.
