If you could see me now you could watch me play a very poignant lament called "Too F--ing Bad for Sony" on the world's smallest violin while crying into the world's smallest towel. If other manufacturers can market products just as good as, if not better than Sony at prices much lower than Sony, obviously the problem is Sony's not the other guys.
At one time Sony produced superior products and charged accordingly. Now they're no better and in many cases not as good while still trying to charge superior prices. I buy Sony only when it has some feature that is unavailable on other similar products. It appears to me that for the more popular brands (Sony,Panasonic LG,Hitachi etc.)prices appear to be e stabilizing with more features being added and the price being kept the same.
Because of the size and relative bulk of large screen panels I tend to buy from local dealers. They charge more although they generally compete with box store sale prices but they deliver and will pick up and deliver for service. To someone with physical limitations this is important.
