"Totally agree about vendor-drive projects. Disagree about pixels up front. Unless you've been working w/the same technology for 10 years and know every single nuance, pitfall and oddball occurrance that can happen, there's no substitute for an end-to-end prototype. W/o fail, every project I've worked on has needed some major/minor design retooling based on technology, functionality or dev process constraints. Much better to find those out early than late. "
