Value...
If I have to put a proprietary key in my pocket, go down to a kiosk, load the key, and still pay as much or more than for a DVD, then where's the "value"?

How about the fact you don't have to schlep back to the video store to return the DVDs you've rented? You rent the movie, take it home, watch it and you're done.

You're probably a busy person. You've got better things to do than to make another trip to the video store. If you're a frequent renter, that could save you a tank or two of fairly expensive gas a year.

As a corrolary... No more trying to beat the sound barrier to get to the store before your rentals expire and you have to pay an extra day's rent on those movies.

Or how about that you're saving the planet by reusing that USB fob/SD chip for your next rental?

And let's NOT forget the fact that a USB key/SD chip can take more punishment - just stick it in your pocket. Try that with a DVD or BR disc - and it could easily become scratched beyond recovery.

DRM is a factor for all of the non-DVD delivery systems, including PPV, online, flash, and Blu-ray. The only reason that it isn't a factor for DVD is because the CSS system has been broken and many tools exist to use DVDs in a consumer-friendly manner.

True, however, there HAVE been instances where the existing CSS system has had "enhancements" that make it difficult, if not impossible to rip DVDs using those existing tools. It's also a given that those tools generally DO get updated to handle most of those enhancments... DRM is still a factor when it comes to DVDs.
