Flash, especially if fixed for lifespan
can spell a shortlived rain for Blu-Ray, . . .which would make me laugh out loud at all the ridiculous delay and fight of Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD. Until a nice flash based or other tech comes along, I've said forget HD-DVD and Blu-ray (at least at retail cost, maybe the used market).

Be nice to have a player without the fault of moving, breaking parts or scratched easily and sometimes useless afterwards optical media. Funny, optical media spanked floppy disks but basically because of price and capacity. Now, if you can manufacture a flash drive for pennies and do so with high capacity along with longer read/write life, I'd forgo optical media.

I'd leave Sony and consortium to play with rootkits and price fixing as their main game.
