Still easier to pirate
I like the idea and all, and it makes much more sense to have a virtual library (which could be gargantuan in size) in the video store rather than the limited selection they usually have. Plus video stores would never be "rented out" of a particular title.

But DRM is such a pain in the ass. I WANT to buy things legally but I always wind up with something I can hardly use. I'll buy media files which can only be played on my current machine. And I often blank my OS drive and install a fresh one, then none of my music/videos work. I can't just play them in any media player I want. It's such a hassle that I wind up torrenting stuff just because I can't get what I want legally.

What I really want is to buy physical discs and be able to easily copy the content to file form. Fortunately old-school audio CD's work quite well now. But DVD's are another story. So I buy a DVD then torrent the movie just because it's easier to pirate the digital copy.
