Where do I sign up?
I love the idea. Whether you have to supply your own Flash card, or if you have to use theirs, I still like it.

HD content would require some of the larger flash cards, but I see no reason why not to push this.

DRM would probably be needed for rentals, but past that, I don't see any real difficulty. I will see if I can get my area rental store to investigate this as a possible money maker for them.

Proprietary isn't bad as long as it provides more help than harm.

If you purchase a proprietary server where you have to spend $120 on a keyboard, then that is more harm than help. If you buy a $120 dollar card reader, then get the ability to always get what movie you want at a speed that is faster than having to download or go to the video store and wait in line to check out a movie that may or may not be there, I see a benefit and think that the odds are in the favor of the consumer.
