I don't like the idea of software patents
It just doesn't seem right that it should be so easy write code that accidentally Infringes on someones patent. Think if books had not only copyright protections, but patents as well. We might patent the method of having a beginning, middle, and end. Perhaps you could patent the concept of having a climax. I'm sure you could patent all sorts of your own literary constructs, then when other people accidentally used them, you could sue for big money. Books have copyright, and that's fair. No one should steal your work. Software code is using keywords that get interpreted by a compiler that someone else developed. This means that what you're writing has a lot of similarities to the English language even though non-technical types may not understand that. I say if you can't patent things written in English, then why patent things written in C++
