Tired old astroturfers...
...always fail on consistency. You can't keep an argument going for a flawed position determined by your prejudices without contradicting yourself. While I generally read your posts for amusement value, I occasionally feel the need to reply so people less familiar with you (there must be at least two reading these...maybe not) will have some clue as to your behaviour and the reasons behind it.

Now for the examples.
Open Standards - a standard for some item, whether it be a document, protocol, or what have you.
Two standards that have taken off amazingly well that just about anyone who reads this will have used in the last week are the HTTP stack (makes your browser work) and PDF.
I don't know who controls the HTTP communications stack, and don't really care. There are lots of browsers that use it and it works fine. This is NOT the same as the HTML document standard.
The PDF standard was developed by Adobe. It has recently been certified as ISO 32000. AFAIK, it's still controlled by Adobe. It certainly was before this certification. And even before this certification there were a number of implementations that could read/write pdf documents, and they could be used between them. The open standard lead to interoperability. IT JUST WORKS.

Open Source - the source code for an application is available for use, with varying restrictions that range from none (BSD License) to attribution, share-and-share-alike, and more.
A closed-source application that implements an open standard would be Adobe Acrobat. Hardly surprising that they implemented their own standard.
An open-source application that has been available since before PDF's certification is ghostscript.

The only thing open source and open standards have in common is that they have nothing to hide. Unlike tired old astroturfers.
