It is what ever is "in" at the moment
Right now it's the iPhone, before that everything "took on the Blackberry", then everything "took on the RAZR", ect.

It grabs everyones attention by bringing to light something that competes with what they already have in their minds at this moment in time.

Though that was exactly the first thing I thought, too: It looks like a Blackberry to me.
