So instead of paying for gas ....

The idea of a pure electrical car sounds good ... until you analyze all the factors.

Electricity is not cheap and definitely not pollution free. To the contrary, most electrical plants generate BILLIONS of CO2 emissions every year. The more electricity they produce, the more CO2 they generate.

Calculate the cost of MPG vs the cost of MPKw and you will see that an all electrical car can be more expensive to "feed" than a regular car. Also, calculate the CO2 release per Kw in your area, and the "green" color of the vehicle turns more into "gray".

The only advantage of an all electrical car is in the maintenance. An electrical engine is usually more reliable (ie: requires less repairs) than state of the art gas engines. The main reason: they have less parts to brake.
