- Windows was ripped by Apple??
- I do believe that Steve Jobs and Bill Gates used to be partners. One wanted big box mass production, one wanted to own production and emphasize form. Computers all have the same function, how to perform those functions and the form (the aesthetic) of the machine performing those functions is increasingly the differentiator. The devices themselves (user-freindliness)are what made the iPod and subsequently the iPhone (iTunes is substantially no different from any other file/music management application). The function is following the form as the function (CPU capacity, bus speeds, memory, ect.) is becoming ubiquitous. In my opinion Apple is rightly pursuing the form (aesthetic) curve as opposed to the function curve. This is in congruence with the planned/percieved obsolescence paradigm, which is inherent in American consumer goods economies. Additionally, marketing is what all businesses do to produce sales/revenue. We all BS a little. Don't get mad because the smart kids are the cool kids now.
